Cadena Projects

2011


Cadena is currently working on the development of various projects in the field of health, technical and agriculture education in African countries. An update of our efforts will follow soon!

"Upgrading and Rehabilitation of Education Infrastructure of Agriculture Colleges in Zambia"
Cadena assisted the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, in Zambia, with the development and submission of an ORIO application for the Netherlands Government. The application was made for the turn-key implementation to upgrade 10 existing Agriculture Colleges. For the development of the application site-surveys and field visits have taken place to assess the current situation. Different project implementation components will include (i) renovation or establishment of new workshops and facilities (ii) supply of  agriculture education and training equipment, (iii) technical assistance for implemtentation of practical agriculture education and management support and (iv) teacher/ staff  training.

2010

“Rehabilitation and upgrading of Kenya Technical Teachers College and nine Regional Centres of Excellence for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology in Kenya”
Cadena provided support for the development phase of this specific project. From 2010 onwards management support for the actual implementation of the Technical Assistance and Training components of this project is provided by Cadena. The TA component consists amongst others of teacher training of 60 Kenyan teachers in the Netherlands, in-country training to further roll-out the knowledge, skills and expertise to the vocational teachers (of 8 different subjects) at the remaining Technical Training Institutes.


“Employment creation through establishment of TVET Infrastructure in Southern Kordofan State, Sudan”
Cadena assisted the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Local Governance and Civil Servants, in Southern Kordofan State, with the development and submission of an ORIO application for the Netherlands Government. The application was made for the turn-key establishment of a vocational training centre. Different project components include (i) establishment of the buildings and facilities (ii) supply of (education and training) equipment, (iii) technical assistance for curriculum development and VTC management support and (iv) teacher training.


“Health Information Project Burundi”
Cadena supported the development of the PSI (Private sector Investment) proposal for the Health Information Project in Burundi. The Dutch Government approved the Grant for this innovative project end of 2010.


2009

“Feasibility study for Upgrading of Ghadames Advanced Vocational Training Centre in South-west Libya for BP Libya”.
Cadena was subcontracted to implement a detailed feasibility study for upgrading the GAVC in which existing teaching subjects should be improved and new teaching areas, such as hotel and tourism would need to be added. A detailed study and project implementation plan have been submitted to the client.


“Building Schools for the Future in Libya”
Initiative of the Gaddafi Development Foundation. Support was provided to the establishment of two demonstration smart classrooms in Tripoli and Beyda. Activities included development of the smart classroom concept, support to installation on site and the actual demonstration for key stakeholders from different Libyan ministries.


“Development of Agriculture Vocational Training Sector Master Plan for Khartoum State Government in Sudan”
Cadena implemented a feasibility study to determine in what manner an Agriculture Vocational Training Sector could be developed. Based on the study a phase approach was introduced to the Khartoum State Government.


“ICT community centres & Wireless broadband Internet, for Sustainable development of ICT in Rural Benin”
Cadena supported the development of the PSI (Private sector Investment) proposal for the innovative IT Project in Benin. The Proposal was evaluated positively and rewarded with a PSI Grant from the Dutch Government.


2008

“Implementation of Feasibility Studies for the General Peoples Committee for Manpower, Employment and Training in Libya”.
Cadena supported the implementation of 4 feasibility studies for the General Peoples Committee for Manpower, Employment and Training. To mention: (i) Establishment of the Libyan Dutch Training Centre, (ii) Rehabilitation of 63 Training Centres,
(iii) Review of the National Curricula Structure, (iv) Continuous Teacher Training.
